Think of Real Estate |
|
If you want to make money in real estate over the next decade, plan on buying a vacation or resort home. Currently, 6 percent of all homes sold in the U.S. are vacation homes. While the percentage is small, it is growing faster than the overall market for residential real estate. In 2003, 445,000 vacation homes were sold, the highest number ever. This was a 24 percent increase from 2001, the National Association of Realtors reported. |

The Emerging Tri-Pol |
|
Consider the big picture, as we…ve laid it out in previous issues of Trends:
The population of the developed world is rapidly aging.
The United States is the only advanced nation where the workforce is forecasted to grow over the next 50 years.
The populations of the EU and Japan are actually expected to shrink over that time period.
Even China is rapidly aging and the size of its workforce will peak around 2025.
At the same time, Latin America, India, the Middle East, and Africa all have young, rapidly growing populations of under-utilized workers and under-served consumers. |

Location-Based Techn |
|
When General Motors introduced OnStar in some of its Cadillac models in 1996, it was pioneering an industry known as location-based services ?or LBS. Because of the existence of global positioning satellites that can triangulate the position of a GPS transmitter anywhere in the world, GM had the idea that roadside assistance and other services could be delivered to drivers in their cars on a subscription basis. |
